Members of the public will have the chance to put their questions directly to the West Yorkshire Mayor, Tracy Brabin, in the next round of her public ‘Question Time’ events.
The events were first launched earlier this year, so that people across the region could have their say about anything that falls under the Mayor’s remit, including transport, housing, climate, skills and economic growth.
Following successful and well-attended sessions in Wakefield, Halifax and Leeds, two more in-person events will now take place in Kirklees and Bradford.
The Mayor will visit the University of Huddersfield on Thursday 28 November, and Kala Sangam Arts Centre in Bradford on Thursday 5 December.
Hosted by journalist Fatima Patel, the Mayor will respond to questions about issues that affect the 2.4 million people living in the region.
Alison Lowe OBE, West Yorkshire’s Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, will also take part to answer any questions about policing and crime in the region.
Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, said:
“Having the opportunity to meet your elected leaders, ask them questions and hold them to account, is vital for our democracy.
“We cannot create a prosperous, happy, well-connected, sustainable and safe West Yorkshire without listening to the views of everyone across our great region.
“Hearing directly from the people I represent at these events will help us deliver on our shared mission to build a brighter West Yorkshire that works for all.”
Fatima Patel, chair of the Mayor’s Question Time events and Managing Editor at Asian Standard and Asian Sunday & Style, said:
“As the editor of one of the UK’s leading South Asian newspapers, I believe in the transformative power of dialogue. Question Time with Mayor Brabin is more than just an event; it’s a vital platform for our diverse communities to speak directly to leadership, challenge the status quo, and seek accountability.
“For our communities to truly thrive and excel, we must embrace open, transparent and fearless conversations that pave the way for real change, and I am delighted and honoured to be facilitating some of that change by chairing the next Question Time in Kirklees and Bradford.”
