Solar PV and Battery Storage - West Yorkshire Housing Partnership

As a result of funding through four Registered Providers and an additional £5m investment from the Combined Authority, West Yorkshire social housing tenants will benefit from reduced energy costs through solar PV & battery storage installations, alleviating the impact of fuel bills and reducing carbon emissions.

Programme overview

Being the largest of the Solar PV and Battery Storage programme’s workstreams, this project is aimed at delivering up to 1500 solar PV and battery storage installations on social housing properties across the region, reducing bills for the residents and helping to alleviate fuel poverty, as well as achieving wider climate emergency outcomes. The project will invest £5,000,000 directly into 500 of the total 1500 solar PV and battery storage installations for the scheme being delivered by West Yorkshire Housing Partnership. The project aims to deliver 5.43MW of solar installations and CO2 savings of 915 tonnes per annum in total. It is also expected to leverage circa £10m of private sector match funding and achieve bill savings of between £180,000-£270,000 for participating residents by March 2026.

The Business Case was approved in early December 2023, with delivery to commence March 2025.
